Dollhouse Productions to hold a fundraiser concert in efforts to raise money for unpaid artist in recent promoter-controversy; remaining proceeds to be donated to local charity

June 24, 2014, Savannah GA –Dollhouse Productions announced earlier this week that a fundraising concert will be held on Friday July 11th featuring a multitude of  local musical acts.  The concert is being held in response to June 21st’s controversial show where an independent promoter fled owing a substantial debt to the performers and venue.

The event aims to bolster awareness of Savannah’s dedicated music scene and help repair Savannah’s reputation as a bona fide touring destination for bands from all over the world. Not paying touring artists, whose costs on the road are substantial and rely heavily on their guarantees to get to the next city, need to know that this type of unprofessionalism is not tolerated here.

“We do not want an isolated incident like this to tarnish the reputation of Savannah’s growing music scene”, says Dollhouse co-owner Blake Mavrogeorgis. “Putting on this concert is our way of expressing that we do not stand for bad business practices when it comes to musicians, promoters, venues, and all those who make a living through music.”

Stories of this incident have already been published in Savannah Morning News, Connect, and local music blog Hissing Lawns, as well as national publications online.

Confirmed acts for the donations-only based event include Crazy Bag Lady, Whaleboat, The Gumps, Broken Glow, Omnignome, Whiskey Wednesday, and Pridemeat (who were one of the nine bands that performed at the ill-fated show).  More bands will be announced as they are confirmed.

All donated door proceeds will go to those who are still unpaid including  headlining act, Eyehategod, as well as the venue. Any extra proceeds will be donated directly to the local charity The Give Me 5 Foundation.  The Give Me 5 Foundation is a music education charity that provides music lessons, scholarships, performance opportunities, and instruments for underprivileged children in the Savannah and coastal empire area. The charity was co-founded by A Nickel Bag of Funk’s front woman Leslie Adele. For more information please go to www.thegiveme5foundation.org, or contact info@thegiveme5foundation.org.
